RV, oversized and crib mattress sizes

The sizes outside the six standards, and why you should measure before ordering any of them.

Two parents, two young children and a golden retriever laugh together on a king bed in a bright bedroom with a beamed ceiling and big windows

Short answer: RV mattresses aren't standardized. A "short queen" is usually 60 × 74 or 60 × 75 in, but sizes vary by maker, so measure the platform.^{[1 · Oct 29, 2026]} Oversized beds such as the Alaskan king (108 × 108 in) need much bigger rooms.^{[2 · Oct 29, 2026]} A full-size crib mattress must measure at least 27¼ × 51⅝ in.^{[3 · Oct 29, 2026]}

Crib mattresses

US federal rules require a full-size crib mattress to measure at least 27¼ in (690 mm) wide and 51⅝ in (1310 mm) long.^{[3 · Oct 29, 2026]} With the mattress pushed into a corner of the crib, the gap must not exceed 3.15 in (80 mm).^{[3 · Oct 29, 2026]} Mattresses for non-full-size cribs and play yards follow separate rules: use the size the product maker specifies.^{[3 · Oct 29, 2026]}
